The Ludhiana Chapter of the Indian Society of Remote Sensing in Collaboration of Punjab Remote Sensing Centre, Ludhiana, celebrated GIS day on November 16, 2012 at Punjab Remote Sensing Centre, Ludhiana. Dr. Anil Sood, Secretary, Indian Society of Remote Sensing, Ludhiana Chapter gave an overview of the importance of GIS Day and a review of the Indian Society of Remote Sensing, its objectives, mandate and various awards instituted by it. On the occasion, a lecture was delivered by Dr. Dinesh Kumar Benbi, National Professor, PAU, Ludhiana, on the topic “Soil Carbon Sequestration for Mitigating the Climate Change Impact” and the other lecture on the Topic “Recent trends in GIS Development” was delivered by Dr. Brijendra Pateriya, Director, Punjab Remote Sensing Centre, Ludhiana. The session was concluded by Dr. SS Mukhopadhaya, Director, Electron Microscopy & Nanoscience Lab (EMNL), PAU, Ludhiana. At the end Dr. SS Kukal, Vice Président of the Society, proposed a vote of thanks.
